Our mission is to provide quality Avocado for everyone.
Grow your own Avocado in the backyard
- Start with an Avocado seed.
- Clean the seed.
- Prepare the seed.
- Wait for sprouting.
Avocado seeds are relatively easy to sprout and make for a great home gardening project. Keep in mind that trees grown from seeds may not be as productive as those from mature trees.
Remove the seed from the avocado fruit and clean off any remaining flesh.
Orientate the seed with the pointed end facing upward and insert four toothpicks around its middle. Ensure the toothpicks are stable. Place the seed in a jar or glass of water with the toothpicks resting on the rim, ensuring the bottom half of the seed is submerged.
Sprouting can take between 2 to 8 weeks. Keep the bottom of the seed submerged in water by topping it up as needed. Once the sprout reaches about 20cm in length, pot it in soil.
